Breast Implant–associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma in Colombia: Report of a Multidisciplinary National Registry

Background: An estimated 43,390 breast augmentation surgeries (86,780 implants) and 1486 implant reconstructions are performed annually in Colombia, representing the second-most surgery destination South America, fourth western hemisphere, fifth country worldwide. No previous reports have evaluated incidence of implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) epidemiology or outcomes a Hispanic population. Published data on this disease Colombia unknown; therefore, National Joint Multidisciplinary Committee was developed between Colombian scientific societies Mastology, Plastic Surgery, Hemato-Oncology, Invima (The Food Drug Surveillance Institute) to track national cases BIA-ALCL. Materials Methods: We retrospective review (survey-based study) historical since 2011–2019, prospective collection all patients with confirmed World Health Organization diagnosis BIA-ALCL identified newly established Registry The trial approved by Institutional Review Board (IRB).
